River Sisters

A Village Hearth for the little women in our lives.

River Sisters

Ages 9-14

This program is run by four amazing young women who have been deep in the nature connection world for years. The hope is that this program will steward a culture for young girls to feel a deep sense of belonging in themselves, with the earth and in healthy sisterhood.

Some of the activities might include; story telling, friction fire, plant medicine, crafts, plant dye, and sharing circles.

This program will run during the morning and afternoon workshop blocks of our gathering. On Sunday the girls from this program will be invited into a ceremony organized by the village aunties to honour their life stage and celebrate their unique gifts.

River Faeries

Ages 5-8

The intention of this program is to create a nurturing, creative and playful space for little girls to love being themselves. This program will be held by a skilled nature connection mentor with lots of experience holding space for the littles in our lives.

Some examples of what this program might include are; animal inspired games, fairy house building, plant art, foraging, nature dress up and more!

This program will run during the morning activity blocks on Friday and Saturday.

Meet the River Sisters Facilitators

  • Sophie Eisberg-Marshall

    RIVER SISTERS

Sophie grew up in Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario. She spent her childhood nurtured by the Pine Project community, learning from mentors and friends.

She has spent the past three summers in Temagami and the Haliburton Highlands working as an educator and guide. She loves white water canoeing and her dream is to merge it with nature connection, creating an immersive experience for both young and old.

She currently splits her time between Nova Scotia and Ontario, pursuing her BA in History and Religious studies while spending her summers on the water guiding in various capacities.

  • Mrna Orme

    RIVER SISTERS

Mrna grew up as a student at the Pine Project, and now works there as a mentor; reliving the inspiration and magic of nature through teaching what she knows to little ones.

Since she was very little, Mrna has loved the outdoors, and making creations with her hands. Some of her closest plant friends are Dogwood, Mugwort, and Red Raspberry. They have been sharing so many beautiful lessons on intuition and moon time that have really helped mrna fall in love with being a woman. Mrna loves doing deeply human things such as singing, dancing, playing, crying, hugging her friends, and crafting.

  • Chloe Matamoros

    RIVER SISTERS

Chloe is an artist-actor, (song)writer-singer,  dancer-dreamer, outdoor educator, tree-hugging queer forest fairy from the big city! Always with a deep reverence for nature, Chloe's comfort in the outdoors deepened as a teen through week long nature-immersion intentional-community experiences. She has since mentored children and teens in nature connection for the past ten years. She also delights in exploring her Ukrainian and Spanish ancestral lineages through language, music and dance. Chloe loves to curl up by candlelight with her journal or a book, delving into myth and story of fierce and gentle feminine archetypes making meaning of life's transitions.

  • Islay Bourne

    RIVER SISTERS

Islay is a nature connection mentor who has spent the last three summers working with kids in the Haliburton Highlands. She grew up in Toronto, and derives much inspiration from the great Ontario landscape, especially its lakes and bodies of water. Having learned many lessons and great mysteries here, she loves bringing younger humans into this world of connection, curiosity, and creation. She cherishes travelling and learning in this phase of life, and when she's not running around she can be found twirling in the air on silks, or crafting with textiles.

  • Fiona McLarnon

    RIVER FAERIES

Fiona is an artist and nature lover from Toronto ON. When she isn’t watercolour painting, you can find her sewing, drying herbs, and tending to her vegetable garden. She has worked in outdoor education for three years. Having been a participant in holistic and outdoor focused learning as a child, she holds this work close to her heart. Currently, she is studying Landscape Architecture at University of Guelph. She hopes to weave values of ecological rewilding into her designs.
